For home, family, or relationship-building situations:
Would you like to be able to use technology to keep in touch with family members through technologically advanced "real time" methods, rather than relying only on traditional forms of communication?
Would the use of e-mail, digital and internet photo-handling and transporting, instant messaging, text messaging, using a web cam, or creating and posting a family web site on the internet enhance your level of communication with family and friends?
Have you seen advertisements for a type of technology you wish you could utilize, but which seems out of reach for you right now? Tell us what that is so we can help you achieve even the technology goals that seem to be outside the scope of your capability at this present time. We'd like to help you get there!
Once you've determined your end goal, consider the following:
What kind of computer do you presently own? What operating system are you presently using: A PC running Windows 95, 98, XP, or Vista, or a Mac running OS 9 or OS X?
What software programs do you have installed on your present unit? Are these sufficient for you to reach your technology goals, or will you need to upgrade? (We can help you with that!)
How much time are you willing to commit to training so you can reach your goals? What is your schedule? When would you like to obtain training -- mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends? What days and times would work best with your schedule?
Information about platform, present operating system, and software programs presently installed on your unit will be important determining factors for training options. Have this information ready when you call or e-mail us about the training you would like to schedule. Note:Your training is not limited to the software you already own. You might want to obtain training in software programs you don't already have as a method of deciding which is the best software investment for you.
Next, based on the questions above, determine the platform (Windows or Mac) on which you would like to obtain your software training.
Lastly, refer to the top of this page and click on the tab for the software training which is available on your platform of choice.Note:Any training which is available in one platform is also available in the other. This means you can reach your goals utilizing either Windows or Macintosh operating systems. The only difference between the two might be in the choice of software programs available. For example, suppose your goal is to create a simple web site at the beginner level. If you are a Macintosh user, you will be trained in Apple's iWeb; if you are a Windows user, you will learn how to do this using Microsoft's Publisher. In some cases, a particular software program is available cross-platform. When your training utilizes one of these cross-platform software programs, the training will be on the platform of your choice, either Mac or Windows. With only a few minor differences, cross-platform software programs function similarly on either Windows or Mac platforms.
After reviewing your software training choices, click on the training options button to the left of the page. Review the training options available. This page also offers an indication of training costs.
Finally, when you have determined the software training you desire, call Shannon, our Office Manager at(772) 234-1555. She will help determine the number of training hours needed and, if necessary, walk you through the registration process.
Design a Personalized Training Plan That Matches Your Needs and Your Personal Technology Goals!
At LifeTech Academy our aim is to help you reach your personal technology goals in the most convenient and most expedient way possible. However, in order for us to help you do this, you must decide what your needs are and articulate those needs to us as clearly and thoroughly as possible. Here are some points to consider and some basic steps to follow in making your training decisions:
First, begin with the end in mind. This is a well known decision-making technique. It is used by people in business and education to help clarify the direction they want their business or academic life to go. By determining in advance where, if it was totally in their power to make this happen, they would like to be in their career or what they would like to be doing with their life six months or a year from now, or even five years from now, developing a plan for getting there begins to take shape. Beginning with the end in mind can also work for you as you begin the process of determining which type of software training you need. Consider these questions:
For work/hobby related situations:
Do you want to be doing a different kind of work or hobby a year from now?
Do you want to be better at the work or hobby you are already doing?
If you are happy in your present line of work or your most recent hobby, how would additional software training help you perform your present tasks more efficiently? What kinds of training would facilitate such a change?
Are you aware that utilizing technology could greatly enhance your performance? What have you observed others in your field doing that you would like to do?
Have you seen advertisements for technology that appeal to you but seem too out of reach? What are they?
